Interval training comprises speed workouts where you alternate fast breaks with recovery periods. Some people refer to both the fast break and the recovery period as "intervals", while others prefer to reserve the term "interval" for the speed session. If that's not confusing enough, the whole process of interval training is also referred to as "intervals" for short!
You can try running the intervals at your estimated 10K run pace at first, then your 5K pace. If you don't know your race pace, just guess it.
